The Ukrainian commander of naval forces gave an interview to the British television SkyNews. Vice Admiral Oleksiy Nejizhpapa stated that Ukraine could have won the war faster if it had been allowed to use Western equipment to attack Russia deep into its territory.

With his statement, he referred to the missile systems that Ukraine received last year from Great Britain , the USA and other allies. These included, among others: British Storm Shadow missiles  or  American ATACMS .

– The sooner our armed forces receive the combat capabilities necessary to destroy enemy infrastructure,  the sooner we will win this fight  , said the commander of the Ukrainian Navy.

The vice admiral mentioned long-range missiles as a key weapon that could be used against the Russians deep inside their country’s territory. – Then the enemy would behave differently, also on the battlefield (in Ukraine – ed.) – he noted.

Successes of the Ukrainian army. “Then we realized that Moscow could be defeated”

Later in the interview, the vice admiral gave examples of the Ukrainian Navy’s  successes  over the past two years.

The commander pointed out the successful attack on the cruiser “Moscow” on April 14, 2022 as one of the iconic events . – Sinking this ship achieved not only  a military goal  , but also a political one – he argued. – Then Ukraine realized that the real Moscow could be defeated – he added.

His further successes included: the bombing of the Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol on September 23, 2023, and many other covert actions against the Russian Navy. Nejiżpapa, however, revealed that Ukrainians use, among others, underwater drones, Western missiles and even water skis.

The commander also requested that the British Navy consider transferring two frigates – HMS Westminster and HMS Argyll – which London plans to withdraw from service due to the insufficient number of soldiers in the Royal Navy.

Ukraine destroyed over 200 Russian ships

According to estimates made by the authorities in Kiev, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has destroyed more than twenty enemy ships , which forced the Kremlin to withdraw several vessels from Crimea to the port of Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar Krai.

These attacks make it more difficult for Russia to enforce its blockade of Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea , which was intended to limit Kiev’s ability to export grain.
